Nikki Haley served as US Ambassador to the United Nations in 2017-18, and before that as Governor of South Carolina for eight years. As governor of South Carolina, she became the first governor to sign into law legislation that stopped the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement’s unjust secondary boycott of Israel. This legislation was later adopted by over 30 U.S. states. At the UN she took action against the organization’s bias against Israel, including on Resolution 2334, on the UNHRC, and support for UNRWA, and discrimination against Israelis. She converted to Christianity in 1997.
