32. Rev. Takeo Sato
Rev. Takeo Sato is a prominent Japanese Christian leader and the head of Beit Shalom, also known as the Japan Christian Friends of Israel, a pro-Israel Christian movement in Japan. Sato has played a significant role in continuing and expanding the organization’s mission to foster friendship between Japan and Israel, support the Jewish people, and promote Hebrew culture through initiatives like the Shachar (Dawn) Choir, which he directs. Under Sato’s leadership, Beit Shalom has grown to include over 100 churches and approximately 10,000 followers across Japan. The organization operates a guest house in Kyoto, offering free accommodation for up to three nights to Jewish and Israeli visitors, and hosts concerts featuring Hebrew songs performed by the Shachar Choir. Sato has also been instrumental in maintaining Beit Shalom’s Holocaust Education Center in Fukuyama, near Hiroshima, which educates visitors about the Holocaust and Israel’s history.
