IAF Honors Long-Time Supporter C.R. "Dick" Saulsbury

Christian Advisory Board Honors DS

In a sold-out dinner in Midland, Texas on September 12th, the IAF honored C.R. Dick Saulsbury, one of its long-time supporters. The IAF’s Christian Advisory Board hosted the event - Tim Dunn of Texas chairs the board and is a close friend of Dick’s. Over 350 attendees paid tribute to a man beloved in Texas for his generosity to many worthy causes but especially to Israel and the Jewish people.

Josh Reinstein, President of the IAF, said, “Dick Saulsbury was one of the very first supporters of faith-based diplomacy. Since we established the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus in Israel in 2004 and then the Israel Allies Foundation in the US in 2007, Dick has supported many of the Foundation’s projects - concrete actions that to legislation in 27 states that stopped anti-Israel boycotts (the “BDS movement”), and initiated a series of decisions that culminated in the transfer of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and built up a group of unshakably pro-Israel Congressmen.”

“He gave generously to our Israel Allies Fellowship program on Capitol Hill, one of our most popular initiatives in Congress,” continued Reinstein. “We had so many calls from offices asking for an Israel Allies Fellow for their office. Dick Saulsbury has truly been a visionary partner in our efforts.”

Speakers at the event included Tim Dunn, Tommy Hicks, the Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee, three retired Congressmen - Dave Weldon, M.D., Mike Sodrel, and Trent Franks, and Bubba Saulsbury, one of Mr. Saulsbury’s sons and Executive Vice President of Saulsbury Industries. Scheduled keynote speaker Senator Tim Cruz joined via Skype as last-minute votes in the Senate prevented him from attending in person.

Family and friends surrounded Mr. Saulsbury - some of them flew in from Israel just to show their gratitude and support. Danny Danon, formerly Israel’s ambassador to the U.N. and a personal friend of Dick, congratulated Dick via video.

Dr. Dave Weldon, IAF Chairman of the Board and founder of the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus, remarked:

“Dick Saulsbury sets an example for many by his generous spirit and willingness to invest long term in political faith-based support for Israel. We are blessed to have such a passionate partner in our efforts to bolster support for Israel in the U.S. Congress and around the world.”
