Tuesday, July 28, 2020

The Knesset Christian Allies Caucus (KCAC) held its official relaunch for the 23rd Knesset at the Friends of Zion Museum. The event was live streamed on the Jerusalem Prayer Team Facebook page where over 560,000 watched from around the world. Greetings were made by Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Speaker of the Knesset Yariv Levin, Friends of Zion International Chairman Dr. Mike Evans and IAF President and KCAC Director Josh Reinstein. Chair of the KCAC MK Sharren Haskel gave the keynote address discussing the importance of forging direct lines of communication between Knesset members and Christian leaders throughout the world. She also spoke about her goals for this Knesset term.

U.S Congressman Doug Lamborn, Australian Minister Stuart Robert, Guatemalan Congressman Fidel Reyes Lee and Nigerian Member of Parliament Ossai N. Ossai were among the parliamentarians who also spoke at the event. Members of the Knesset spanning 7 political parties, including Gideon Saar and Moshe (Bogie) Yaalon, spoke about their reasons for joining the caucus and the importance of strengthening Christian support for Israel.

“Our launch events are typically held in the Knesset with local Christian leaders in attendance. The coronavirus restrictions have actually given us a new opportunity to restructure this program and allow for a wider audience, spanning 42 countries and participation from world leaders and our international Israel Allies Caucus Chairman. This will bring home the message that faith-based diplomacy is the strongest weapon we have in the arsenal of international Israel advocacy,” said KCAC Director Josh Reinstein.

Statements from Israel Allies Caucus Chairmen from around the world

U.S Congressman Doug Lamborn, Co-Chair of the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus
"It’s wonderful to be able to join you virtually today – to celebrate the relaunch, in the new Knesset, of the Christian Allies Caucus – the leader in Jerusalem for all those working together in support of Israel. Supporting the Jewish state benefits the United States and every country represented in the Israel Allies network. Israel has an outstanding democracy, respect for the rule of law and a remarkable record working in good faith for justice and peace with its neighbors in the Middle East."

Congressman Fidel Reyes Lee, Chairman Guatemalan Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus
"It is very exciting to participate together with all the Chairmen of Israel Allies Caucuses around the world in this virtual event. Guatemala will always be the best ally for Israel in Central America. From the Guatemalan Congress, we want to express that we appreciate working together with you on reinforcing the ties between Israel and Central America."

Minister for Government Services Stuart Robert, Chairman of the Australian Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus
"I joined the parliament over 12 years ago and in my very first speech to the parliament, I said that Israel is a shining light, a beacon in the middle East. It has the absolute right to defend itself against every threat that surrounds it, but more importantly it shines as a light in a difficult part of the world. Australia’s commitment to Israel is well known, as is mine. I wish the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus all the best. Looking forward to engaging with you as regularly as possible."

MP Dr. Ossai N. Ossai, Chairman of the Nigerian Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus
“The Nigerian Caucus will always stand tall with the State of Israel for the mutual benefits of both our countries including supporting Israel in the international arena by standing strong against anti-Semitism and against anti-Zionism in Africa and other global forums."
