Stockwell day

Stockwell Day was successfully elected nine times over the course of 25 years at two levels of government and in two separate provinces. From 1986 to 2000, he served in the Alberta Legislature as Government House Leader, Minister of Labour, Minister of Social Services and Minister of Finance. In 2000 Stockwell Day won the leadership of the Canadian Alliance and became Leader of Canada’s Official Opposition. In 2002, he was appointed Foreign Affairs critic, as well as Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights. In 2006 Stockwell Day was appointed Minister of Public Safety and to the Cabinet Committee on Priorities and Planning. The Hon. Stockwell Day has been widely recognized in Canada and internationally for his tireless efforts related to standing up for Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state, defunding of NGOs with anti-Israel terrorist connections, leading the Canadian initiative to have Hezbollah designated as a terrorist organization, standing against antisemitism, and as a founder in the Canadian Parliament as the first Chairman of the Canadian Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus. The Hon. Stockwell Day was awarded the B'nai B'rith 2019 Award of Merit for Lifetime of Friendship and Solidarity with the Jewish Community and Israel along with the IJO 'Chamah' 2019 Pillar of Israel Award.
